Living Wage Campaign

The Tompkins County Workers’ Center’s campaign to create a Minimum Wage that is a Living Wage for every worker in Tompkins County is designed to accomplish the following objectives:

  • Win local legislation mandating a Tompkins County Minimum Wage that is equivalent to a Living Wage with subsequent increases tied to the cost of living (FAQ here);
  • Win State approval for such a Tompkins County Minimum Wage;
  • Develop and empower a core group of low wage workers to play a leadership role during the campaign and continuing activist roles after the campaign;
  • Develop a coalition of business/community/local governments and labor groups committed to making the MW/LW.
