Weekend Round-up

Come one! Come all! The Unemployed & Underemployed Support Group is hosting a phonecalling/letterwriting party this coming Thursday, December 9th from 4:30 — 6:00. We will be urging all senators to support the extension of Unemployment Benefits. Millions of Americans on extended UI could be losing benefits this holiday season unless we act now. This is at a time when conservatives want to extend tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy: demand they help economically vulnerable workers, too.

If you can’t make it to the Workers’ Center this Thursday, please call your Senators toll-free at 1-888-340-6522.

And for your reading pleasure:

1) Here’s an interesting blog post, What to Say to a Bully at Work, by Rich Gallagher, a local communications skills author, public speaker and writing coach. The blog describes on workplace bullying communication skills.   Left: Rich Gallagher from his blog, http://point-of-contact.blogspot.com

A post from Labor Notes describes the growing relationship between workers centers and regional COSH (Coalitions for Occupational Safety and Health) groups.

And just for fun, an article on how Tetris actually helps people with PTSD, something that many who are targets of workplace bullying or victims of traumatic workplace accidents suffer from.

Enjoy!
