BIG Win for Cayuga United Nurses!

An overwhelming 82% of nurses voted in favor of union representation today.

Their message to management is clear – UNION YES! The nurses’ win is a victory for all health care workers and all workers. “The overwhelming victory by CMC nurses is a shining example of  what healthcare professionals can achieve when they join together with a collective voice,” said CWA District 1 Vice President Dennis Trainor.

The CMC nurses will now begin to bargain a contract and implement their mission – “…To unify our voice and empower our nurses so we may consistently provide positive patient outcomes, improve job satisfaction, and ensure the retention of quality nurses.”

The Tompkins County Workers’ Center will continue to stand with them as they do so. And we will also work along with other nurses at the CMC Cancer Centers and at CMC Surgicare Center who are demanding union recognition after supermajorities signed union authorization cards.

Congratulations to Cayuga United nurses and to the community for supporting them.

Onward to more worker victories!
