Friday Morn: RAMPING UP Pressure on Ithaca College: Can You Be There?

No meaningful progress has been made yet on two of the most important reason the Contingent Professors at Ithaca College (IC) formed a union, and the final scheduled bargaining IC Contingent Faculty is this Friday, February 24th! We need to come out again as we did this past Monday to support and demand a fair contract: THIS COMING FRIDAY FROM 8:30 TO 10 AM. Join this important community-labor protest action in front of the Ithaca College entrance on Danby Road/Rt. 96B.

Following the picket on Friday, the professors will be meeting with college administrators and expect to hear back from them on the two key reasons they voted by an overwhelming 88% to authorize a strike. The two issues they have asked to have addressed are:  a clear pathway toward pay parity for part-time faculty with full-time faculty and increased job security for full-time faculty. A federal mediator will be present at the bargaining session, and it’s more important than ever that we show our support!

PLEASE STAND UP FOR FAIR WAGES, FRIDAY MORNING 8:30-10 AT IC!

Can you join us and be part of this movement in the Tompkins County community to provide equal pay for equal work and more stability for contingent faculty and their students? This day marks the end of “Accepted Students Week” at IC and we need to turn out as many people as possible to the Danby Road/96B Entrance to Ithaca College at 8:30 with a street/road presence from 8:30 to 10.

If you can make it for all or part of our community-side of this Action, please email pete@tcworkerscenter.org or text 607-339-1680. Parking will most likely be found at the South Hill Business Campus which is directly across the road at 950 Danby.

Thanks for all you do to raise the bar on how we treat workers in this community and beyond!
